It looks like I'm
finally going to part with my baby. I know I’m going to regret it after it’s
gone which is why I’ve listed and almost sold it a few times……….but never had
the heart to close the deal. I think I have finally reached the point in life
where I am ready to cut the cord and move on to other cars.

Why am I selling?
I’ve had a really hard time selling the car. It
really doesn’t make sense keeping the car knowing I’m not driving it as much as
I should. I drive it to work occasionally to keep the battery charged but it’s
just not getting driven regularly due to using my 4 door for my son. It’s
sitting in the garage and has always been garage kept. I have almost always had
a daily driver, which is why it doesn’t have a lot of mileage. I now have a 2 ½
year old so my 4-seater gets driven during the week and the weekends now and I
really don’t have the opportunity to drive it enough anymore with any
frequency.
Mechanical Condition:
Mechanically perfect and the car is in wonderful
shape as you can tell.
A little about who you’re buying from:
I’m one of those obsessive owners, been a car enthusiast
before I could spell. I wash the inside of the wheels when I wash the car,
which was often when I drove it more. I drive gently until the car is up to
operating temperature and never drive it under 5 miles before shutting the car
off. I broke the car in gently per Honda’s recommendation.
Repair history:
Wow, this car has been reliable. Mechanically, only
1 left front strut replaced about two years ago and two new batteries, due to
not driving it enough. The car has always been serviced at Honda dealers or a
Honda/Acura specialist. This is one of the last Japan made Honda’s
these days, it will probably make it to 250,000 miles with no sweat. Regarding
tires, I got about 25,000 miles on my OEM set of tires. A near record I’m sure.
I lived in Florida with straight roads then. Yes, it was boring. The
AD-08s are not in immediate need of replacing, they have between 5/32 and 6/32
left. They stick really well and actually wear (or don't wear) better than I
expected.
Service History:
I replaced the convertible top in March of 2012
due to a small hole. They aren’t cheap
at over a $1,100 so I had the repair shop put some extra material where the
bars roll on the top (which is what created the hole in the first place). I wouldn’t expect a new one being needed even
with regular use for 5+ years. I also
replaced the foam bottom on the driver’s side seat so it sits like a new seat.
Mechanically, I’ve done the fluids (oil, differential,
brake) based on schedule or better because I feel it’s better to spend money on
preventative maintenance than repair (plus it just feels better to know you’re
taking care of something that you really enjoy). Oil was changed 3-5,000 its entire life. I’ve switched to Amsoil
Signature Series 10/30 as of a couple years ago. (I’ve also switched to Amsoil for the differential.) I’ve had it tested by Blackstone Labs and the
engine is wearing perfectly. No
issues. A couple of years ago, I also
had the front brakes replaced with OEM pads. At that time, the rear brakes were
only 15% worn!
What’s wrong with the car cosmetically?
The front has the usual chips (but Silverstone
hides a LOT, great color. I’d buy it again in a heartbeat). When I had my rear
tires replaced at 25,000 or so miles, the stupid tire store scuffed my
rims. It’s not terrible but I’m obsessive. I have just 1 small ding
on the left rear wheel arch. Nothing else. I’m
disclosing everything I know about or can recall. I’ve bought sports cars used
in the past and believe in being 100% honest about what you’re getting.
Price is firm at $18,500. I don’t need to sell
it but it really needs someone to appreciate and drive it more regularly. Hoping that someone will enjoy it like I have and treat it well.
